Rapid-response for neighbors in crisis. Immediate help. Lasting hope. Powered by Alaska Community Foundation.
The Good Neighbor Fund provides person-to-person support for people in Anchorage experiencing homelessness to cover costs for short-term needs that will help an individual or family get to a safe exit from homelessness. Expenditures from the fund will be made through trusted outreach professionals: the HOPE Team at the Anchorage Police Department, and RRS
We see our neighbors struggling on our streets and in public spaces — individuals in pain, without resources, and needing a friend. While we want to help, direct giving can be complicated.
The most effective help comes from trained outreach teams (including the Anchorage Police Department’s HOPE Team, RRS, and the Third Avenue Resource and Navigation Center) who are already connecting with people in crisis. However, these dedicated workers often lack the immediate funds to provide critical, life-changing support right when it’s needed most.
The Good Neighbor Fund is a dedicated, rapid-response resource for these trusted outreach workers. Established with Mayor LaFrance’s office and held by the Alaska Community Foundation, the Fund gives them immediate purchasing power for necessities that move a person out of crisis and toward stability.
100% of your contribution goes directly to helping a neighbor in need. Not a penny is spent on administrative or overhead costs.*
We don’t just provide handouts; we provide a path. Assistance is offered to those who are ready to engage in their own journey toward long-term stability, with an invitation to give service back to the community to the extent of their ability.
Take the Meal Challenge: Commit to give up a meal or two per month. Donate the dollar value of the food not eaten to the Fund, or more generously. This small, consistent act of sacrifice fuels the most trusted boots on the ground.
All contributions are tax-deductible.
